Your events have the power to do more
Whether you’re into marathon running, fancy dress, community fundraising or throwing dinner parties, you can transform a fun event with your friends and family into vital funds for ShelterBox.
Millions of families are currently living without proper shelter because of natural disaster and conflict. You can help change this.
Car rallies, cake bakes or sponsored silences – the possibilities are endless. By going the extra mile and organising an event for ShelterBox, you’re helping our teams go further.
By helping us go to the ragged ends of the world to reach the communities most in need.
How to fundraise
Make a plan
Try and think of something that is both impressive and achievable. Think about whether you want to do it alone or in a team. Consider whether you want to sign up to a pre-existing event, like the Brighton Marathon, or run your own, like a pub quiz or a sponsored sporting challenge.
Set a date that doesn’t clash with other events or busy periods in the year. Then decide on how much you want to raise. Don’t be afraid to think big!
Tell everyone
Shout about what you’re doing at any available opportunity. Use posters, emails, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to let everyone know how they can get involved. You may also want to set up an online fundraising page so that people can donate at their convenience, direct from social media and from anywhere in the world.
We can provide lots of materials to support you, like sponsor forms and legal advice (where necessary). Fill in the form below to ask for resources.
Request a speaker
If you’re hosting an event, such as a quiz or cake sale, bring the story of your fundraising to life by inviting a ShelterBox speaker to your event. You can experience our aid for yourself and your supporters will find out how their money can transform the lives of families robbed of shelter when disaster strikes. Book a speaker here.
Enjoy it
Don’t forget to have some fun! Celebrate your achievement, toast your success!
We’d love to see photos of your event, so make sure to send them in or tag us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #TeamShelterBox
Thank your supporters
Everyone who donates, takes part or turns up at your event to help cheer you on, will be making a huge difference to families who are utterly overwhelmed by disaster. Those families won’t be able to send their thanks personally, so once you’ve counted up your donations, make sure you do it for them.
Pay up
After your event, you can send in the money you’ve raised quickly and easily. Close your online fundraiser page, send in your cash donations online, over the phone or send us a cheque by post, it’s up to you.
