Eyes Wide Open in the Disaster Zone

A collection of photographs celebrating hope, courage and resilience.

About the book

2020 Vision, photographed by ShelterBox Australia CEO, Mike Greenslade.

Photographer and ShelterBox Australia CEO, Mike Greenslade has been a ShelterBox Response Team member since 2006.

During this time, Mike has deployed 22 times to disaster zones around the world — 2020 Vision: Eyes Wide Open in the Disaster Zone is visual diary of those deployments.

Through photography, 2020 Vision illustrates the resilience of the human spirit in extreme adversity, and the determination of those who work with communities to recover.

All proceeds from sales of the book will go to disaster relief.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of ShelterBox, 2020 Vision is full of images of determination and hope. Even in the darkest of hours, communities shine bright. Families pull together to help one another, and organisations like ShelterBox work tirelessly to provide emergency shelter and other essential items to support them in rebuilding their lives.

The book focusses on the human experience of dealing with disaster and displacement, and is divided into three sections: disaster, response and resilience.

From the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, to the little-known refugee crisis in Somaliland, the book aims to capture the strength of affected people, often overlooked by other agencies.
